In 1878. The Lock Ard ship crashed into Mutton Bird Island with only two survivors. Two teens both 19 years of age. Apprentice, Tom Pearce, and Eva Carmichael, who was emigrating to Australia with her family. Pearce rescued Carmichael from the water.
These rocky outcrops were named after them.
